Argos Staff
Our technologists have many years of experience in the field of neuromonitoring. Argos NeuroMonitoring is comprised of technologists who are board certified or are currently in the process of taking the board exams (board eligible). A CNIM (Certified Neurological Intraoperative Monitoring) must meet national guidelines required by ABRET and ASET. The ABRET registration requires training in not just one modality, but all of the various intraoperative modalities frequently used in IOM, ensuring multi-modality competency. The training goes beyond that of knowing how to perform an EEG or EMG in the ambulatory setting. The CNIM must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (as of 2000), have been the supervising technologist during at least 100 cases and pass the written exam given by ABRET.
The technologists of Argos work with several highly qualified neurologists
who provide “real time data interpretation” via the internet. CMS guidelines
require general supervision by a neurologist either in person or on-line
in real time. Technological advances and the internet have made it possible
for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring to be used in many more
areas than in the past. By using a secure internet IP address Argos’ technologists
are able to connect with the reading neurologist who in turn can view
“real-time” information from the operating room. This allows the interpreting
physician to communicate vital information to the technologist and the
surgeon if necessary during the surgery. It is as if the Neurologist is
in the operating room also. The Neurologist is on-line with the technologist
during the entire procedure. Detailed IOM reports and waveforms are generated
for the neurologist to sign. Argos can work with a neurologist of the
surgeon’s choosing to help insure a continue referral base. |
